Outdoor Equipment

Scouts go camping?

Yes!!  You'll find that our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers love being outdoors!  While the 3rd Kanata Scout Group has a large and modern inventory of outdoor equipment, this does not cover personal items.

Below are a few examples of what a youth member will always need for an overnight adventure:

Before any camp, the Scouters will provide a list of required and recommended equipment based on the type of activities planned and the time of year when the camp is organized.

Where can I get outdoor equipment?

If this is the first time that you are camping, you may hesitate investing in high-quality, durable outdoor equipment.  That's a very reasonable strategy, especially if you're not sure if it's for you.  However, you don't need to wait to become the next "Survivorman" Les Stroud (recently named as the Chief Scout of Scouts Canada) in order to consider investing in equipment that will last for years.

Below are some suggestions on where to find outdoor equipment beyond clothing.  Of course, some smaller items can also be found at Dollarama and Giant Tiger, but they don't typically carry everything you need.

5607 Hazeldean Rd, Stittsville

Bushtukah is an Ottawa-based retailer that offers high quality products and excellent service.  Their products will last for years, but it may not be the first stop for those who are starting their first outdoor adventures.

Nevertheless, there is 10% discount on non-sale items to Scouts Canada members. The discount is applied at checkout.

Bushtukah advises 3rd Kanata members to create an account when at the cash, and they can make a note at that point of the discount, for that purchase, and future purchases.
